COMIENZO DE LAS REUNIONES DE TRABAJO EN IES ALTO GUADIATO / START OF WORK MEETINGS AT IES ALTO GUADIATO

 En el centro IES Alto Guadiato hemos tenido la visita de Jerónimo López Mohedano, el cronista oficial de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo que transmitió sus conocimientos de la Historia de la localidad a nuestros estudiantes de 4º E.S.O. Nos puso ejemplos de vivencias de ciudadanos franceses y de otras nacionalidades que vinieron a trabajar a nuestro territorio para la Sociedad Minero-Metalúrgica de Peñarroya (S.M.M.P.).

Jerónimo mantuvo una amistosa charla con nuestro alumnado y estableció la forma de trabajar las biografías. El trabajo se realizará por grupos, donde el alumnado recopilará la información que nos transmita el cronista oficial de la localidad. Desde aquí se pasará a redactar la información y se traducirá a otros idiomas, en principio a francés. Esta redacción se subirá al blog del proyecto. Los profesores que se ocuparán de trabajar con el alumnado, revisarán el trabajo y servirán de guía, además de subir la información de cada uno de los personajes que están en el cementerio francés de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo. María Dolores Fernández Calventos, profesora de Francés del IES Alto Guadiato se ocupará de trabajar por grupos y traducir al francés la información. José Luis Malagón Benítez, profesor de Historia y vicedirector del IES Alto Guadiato se ocupará de coordinar los trabajos del alumnado con la Asociación La Maquinilla y también la revisión de los trabajos antes de subirlos al blog.

Después de esta presentación quedamos emplazados para ir subiendo las primeras biografías de los ocupantes del cementerio francés de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo en este blog.

 In the IES Alto Guadiato we had the visit of Jerónimo López Mohedano, the official chronicler of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo who transmitted his knowledge of the history of the town to our students of 4th E.S.O. He gave us examples of experiences of French citizens and other nationalities who came to work in our territory for the Mining-Metallurgical Society of Peñarroya (S.M.M.P.).

Jerónimo had a friendly chat with our students and established the way to work on the biographies. The work will be done in groups, where the students will compile the information given to us by the chronicler Jerónimo. From there, the information will be written and translated into other languages, initially into French. This writing will be uploaded to the project's blog. The teachers who will be in charge of working with the students will review the work and serve as a guide, in addition to uploading the information of each of the characters that are in the French cemetery of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo. María Dolores Fernández Calventos, French teacher at IES Alto Guadiato will be in charge of working in groups and translating the information into French. José Luis Malagón Benítez, History teacher and vice principal of IES Alto Guadiato will be in charge of coordinating the students' work with the Association La Maquinilla and also the revision of the works before uploading them to the blog.

After this presentation, we will upload the first biographies of the occupants of the French cemetery of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo in this blog.

RECICLAJE DE LADRILLOS DEL CERCO INDUSTRIAL PARA RESTAURAR EL CEMENTERIO FRANCÉS/RECYCLING BRICKS FROM THE INDUSTRIAL CERCO TO RESTOR THE FRENCH CEMETERY

 

Vivimos en la época del reciclaje y en la Asociación La Maquinilla siempre hemos tenido claro que la mejor manera de recuperar nuestro patrimonio es dándole  una segunda vida. Sólo tenemos que dar un paseo por  la Vía Verde del Guadiato y Los Pedroches, antes un ferrocarril abandonado, contemplar la caseta ferroviaria de vía estrecha que ha sido transformada en un Centro de Interpretación o mirar de noche  la chimenea de la fábrica de papel como nuevo icono del municipio para darnos cuenta de que todo lo que nos rodea puede ser reutilizado para que rinda un servicio o  un tributo  a la sociedad en la que se encuentran ubicadas: económico, cultural o turístico.

We live in the age of recycling and La Maquinilla Association we have been clear that the best way to recover our heritage is givING it a second life. We only just have to take a walk along the Guadiato and Los Pedroches greenway, before an abandoned railway, contemplate the narrow gauge railway building that has been transformed into an Interpretation Center or look at the chimney of the paper factory at night like new icon of pou city to realize that everything that surrounds us can be reused to render a service or a tribute to the society in which it´s located: economic, cultural or tourist.

En este sentido, el cementerio francés de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo no puede ser ajeno a esta tendencia que ha venido para quedarse  y algunas secciones de este espacio funerario serán reconstruidas con ladrillos de antiguas edificaciones destruidas del  Cerco Industrial de Peñarroya. Tras años de expolio  en los que estas piezas acababan en las casas de muchos ciudadanos de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, un acto poco heroico y nada edificante, además de mezquino y tras décadas en las que no se sabía que hacer con estos elementos arquitectónicos que  a buen seguro, cuando se descontaminen los suelos del Cerco, acabarán en un vertedero, La Asociación La Maquinilla  ha pensado en reutilizar los ladrillos para reconstruir las tumbas francesas y recomponer  intersticios, bordillos y salientes. De este modo se cumplen varios objetivos:

In this sense, the French cemetery of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo cannot be oblivious to this trend  and some sections of this funerary space will be rebuilt with bricks from old destroyed buildings of the Peñarroya Industrial Cerco. After years of looting in which these pieces ended up in the homes of many citizens of Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo, an act that was not very heroic and not at all edifying, as well as petty, La Maquinilla Association has thought of reusing the bricks to reconstruct the French tombs and recompose interstices, curbs and projections. In this way, several objectives are met:

Reducir escombros en este Bien de Interés Cultural. 

Reduce debris in this Asset of Cultural Interest.

Ahorrar recursos económicos.

Save financial resources.

Dar una segunda oportunidad  a objetos históricos que ya  no pueden ejercer la función para la que fueron diseñados en un principio y que no tienen un valor arqueológico. 

Give a second chance to historical objects that can no longer perform the function for which they were originally designed and that have no archaeological value.

La recuperación de ladrillos se ha realizado con permisos del Ayuntamiento de la localidad y en ella han colaborado voluntarios de la Asociación La Maquinilla. El transporte al cementerio ha corrido a cargo de la Agrupación de Protección Civil de Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo a la que agradecemos su trabajo.

Recovery of bricks has been carried out with permits from the local council and volunteers from the La Maquinilla Association have collaborated. Transportation to the cemetery has been carried out by the Peñarroya-Pueblonuevo Civil Protection Group, to whom we thank for their work.

En total se han recogido 700 unidades de los miles de  ladrillos de construcción (no refractarios) que se encuentran esparcidos por los suelos del Cerco. Esperamos que esta actuación sirva como ejemplo para para la puesta en valor del patrimonio local de una forma medioambientalmente sostenible y rigurosa. 

In total, 700 units have been collected from the thousands of construction bricks (not refractory) that are scattered on the floors of the Cerco. We hope that this action will serve as an example for the enhancement of local heritage in an environmentally sustainable and rigorous way.
